Hi, I’m Laurene
founder of The Nit Network with over a decade of experience in the lice removal industry. I own both clinic-based and mobile lice removal services company, supporting families through some of their most stressful moments with care, compassion and professionalism. My work has also included partnerships with camps, schools, and community organizations, along with countless trainings for teachers, school nurses, parents, and caregivers focused on spreading accurate, evidence-based information about head lice detection and treatment.
I trained directly with Katie Shepherd, a world-leading head lice expert, and have remained deeply committed to elevating standards and education within the industry. I’ve also hosted two professional conferences to bring lice professionals together for learning, connection, and shared growth.
In addition to hands-on work and education, I am an industry consultant with NitBiz Consultants, working with lice business owners to start, grow, and operate confident, professional businesses. I created Let’s Learn About Lice to ensure families and professionals alike have access to reliable information — and built The Nit Network to bring connection, support, and clarity to an industry that deserves all three.
Why I Built The Nit Network
I built The Nit Network because the lice removal industry deserves more connection, clarity, and support. Too often, professionals are navigating this work on their own — without a trusted place to ask questions, share best practices, or learn from others who truly understand the realities of the job.
At the same time, misinformation about lice continues to create confusion for families and makes it harder for professionals to be seen as the valuable resource they are. The Nit Network exists to bring professionals together, support one another, and help grow awareness of professional lice removal services as a trusted, effective solution.
It’s my hope that lice professionals from all over the world — with different backgrounds, experiences, and paths into this work — come together in The Nit Network and feel a true sense of community. No matter how you found your way into this industry, this work matters, and you’re not meant to navigate it alone. Through this network, my goal is for professionals to gain real value, confidence in the importance of their work, and reassurance that they are supported every step of the way.
